Message from the Procurement Ombudsman

I am honoured to have been re-appointed Canada’s Procurement Ombudsman for another 5-year term (beginning in April 2023), and to continue being part of an office dedicated to helping Canadian businesses and federal officials with their procurement issues.

Over the next 5 years, my office will:

  • offer dispute resolution services to help suppliers and federal departments resolve their contractual issues on existing federal contracts
  • investigate complaints from Canadian businesses who feel they were treated unfairly regarding the award or administration of certain federal contracts
  • review the procurement practices of federal departments, and make recommendations in support of fairness, openness and transparency
  • conduct Knowledge deepening and sharing (KDS) studies on important topics in procurement, and share this information with federal departments and suppliers
  • advocate for increased simplification, transparency and diversity in procurement for the benefit of all Canadians

My office will meet with Canadians, virtually and in-person, to obtain their feedback on what is and isn’t working in federal procurement, and on what can be done to treat Canadian businesses fairly while obtaining best value for taxpayer dollars.

I look forward to working closely with Canadian businesses and federal departments to make the procurement process work better for everyone.
